BARABOO – Kelsey Fierke and Jared Ystad each won a pair of matches as the University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County tennis teams competed in a triangular meet at UW-Baraboo on Monday.
The Marauders women tied UW-Waukesha 3-3 and lost to Baraboo 4-2. The men’s team lost both of its matches, falling to Baraboot 5-4 and Waukesha 4-2.
For the women’s team in the tie against Waukesha, Breann Haubert won at No. 1 singles, Fierke won at No. 2 singles, and Haubert and Fierke combined to win at No. 1 doubles.
Fierke and Janel Vantassel, at No. 3 singles, won against Baraboo.
Ystad won at No. 4 singles, Brian Brost was a winner at No. 5 singles, Mike Solberg won his match at No. 6 singles, and Brost and Solberg were victorious at No. 3 doubles for the Marauders in the loss to Baraboo.
Mike Schneider won at No. 2 singles and Ystad won again at No. 4 in the loss to Waukesha.
UW-Marshfield/Wood County finishes its season this Friday and Saturday at the Wisconsin Collegiate Conference State Tournament at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison.
