WAUSAU – The Marshfield boys golf team shot a season-best 325 to finish second Friday at the third leg of the Wisconsin Valley Conference Tournament at Wausau Country Club.
Kyle Hoffman led the Tigers with a 79 to finish seventh individually. All five of the Tigers finished in the top 15 and earned individual points toward the conference tournament series.
Michael Josephson had an 81 to tie for ninth, Josh Berres tied for 11th with an 82, Craig Serchen shot an 83 to take 13th and Brandon Brown tied for 15th with an 85 for Marshfield.
Marshfield held a four-shot lead over Stevens Point after the first nine holes before the Panthers stormed back to shoot a 311 and win the team title for the third straight leg of the WVC tournament.
Marshfield moves into a tie with Wisconsin Rapids for third place in the overall standings.
Matt Sandquist of Wausau West won individual medalist honors with a 75.
Marshfield will play at the fourth leg of the tournament on Tuesday at Merrill and will host the fifth leg on May 11 at Riveredge Golf Course.
