SPENCER – The Spencer softball team scored seven runs in the fourth inning and pulled away from Owen-Withee for a 14-4 win in five innings Tuesday at SPREC Field.
The Rockets scored in double digits for the 12th time this season – all of the team’s victories – and move to 12-4 overall and 8-3 in the Cloverbelt Conference East Division. Owen-Withee drops to 2-8 and 2-7 in the conference.
Paige Johnson and Krystal Weier smacked home runs for Spencer. Johnson went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs, while Weier also had two doubles, two runs scored and four RBIs.
Weier is now batting .551 with six home runs and 43 RBIs this season. Johnson is second on the Rockets with a .486 batting average and third with 22 RBIs.
Brooke Kettleborough, Kailyn Anderson and Dani Johnson added two hits each for the Rockets.
Heidi Guenther, who tossed a no-hitter against Colby on Monday, gave up just one earned run and struck out three.
The Rockets play at first-place Neillsville on Thursday.
