MARSHFIELD – Kelsey Kuehnhold threw six shutout innings and Marshfield came up with some timely hitting to knock off Black River Falls 5-2 in a nonconference softball game Monday at the Marshfield Fairgounds.
Kuehnhold struck out six, walked four and scattered six hits to earn the win for the Marshfield (4-12).
Caitlin Kozik had an RBI double in the second, Taylor Hasz ripped an RBI double in the third and Jordan Green had an RBI single in the fourth to lift Marshfield’s offense.
“Kelsey through a pretty good game,” Marshfield coach Mike Voss said. “She had six strikeouts and had pretty good control. They didn’t really get to her until the seventh. She did what we asked her to do, she threw strikes, and the defense played well behind her (only one error).”
Marshfield hosts Wisconsin Rapids on Tuesday and D.C. Everest on Thursday in its final two home games of the regular season.
