SPENCER – The Spencer softball team wrapped up its regular-season schedule with a 14-4 rout of Greenwood in Cloverbelt Conference East Division action Friday at SPREC Field.

Spencer scored five times in the bottom of the first inning and added six more over the next two frames to blow past the Indians and finish the regular season with an 18-5 overall record and a 12-4 mark in the Cloverbelt East. Greenwood falls to 8-10 and 8-7 in conference.

Paige Johnson hit a home run and drove in a pair, Brooke Kettleborough had two hits and four RBIs and Krystal Weier went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and a triple for the Rockets.

“We were efficient against a solid team tonight,” Spencer coach Jason Gorst said. “It is a good sign going into the playoffs. We had some rough patches this year, but I feel that we are peaking at the right time.”

Spencer hosts Lincoln in a WIAA Division 4 regional quarterfinal on May 24.
