STEVENS POINT – Marshfield advanced all four singles players and all three doubles team on to sectionals and lead the team standings after the WIAA Division 1 Boys Tennis Subsectional on Monday on Stevens Point Area Senior High.
The Tigers totaled 24 points on Monday and lead Stevens Point and Wausau East, which are tied for second with 12 points each.
Those reaching the semifinals in the No. 1 flights and all others reaching the finals in their respective flights advance to the sectional, which will be Wednesday at Boson Courts next to Marshfield High School.
Advancing for Marshfield in singles were Jacob Twardowski (9-9) at No. 1, Jason Stone (13-9) at No. 2, Jack Haessly (15-6) at No. 3 and Jacob Limmex (10-3) at No. 4. Doubles teams moving on for the Tigers are Bryce Gadke and Dan Bargender (8-3) at No. 1, Kohl Van Oudenhoven and Quinn Van Oudenhoven (10-5) at No. 2, and Tanner Hayes and Zach Ott (12-1) at No. 3.
When play resumes Wednesday, the top four finishers in No. 1 singles and doubles, and the No. 2 flight champion at singles and doubles will qualify for the WIAA State Individual Boys Tennis Tournament at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison on May 31-June 2.
The top team advances to the WIAA State Team Boys Tennis Tournament in Madison on June 8-9. Team points carry over to Wednesday.
