ANTIGO – Michael Josephson tied for third with a 78 to help the Marshfield boys golf team to a second-place finish and a sectional berth on Tuesday at the WIAA Division 1 boys golf regional at Bass Lake Country Club.
D.C. Everest won the regional title with a score of 318, with Marshfield second at 322. Antigo (337) and Merrill (341) also qualified for the sectional meet on May 29 at Riveredge Golf Course in Marshfield.
Brandon Brown tied for sixth with an 80, Kyle Hoffman shot an 86, Craig Serchen had an 88 and Josh Berres fired a 90 for the Tigers.
The top four teams and top three individuals not on those qualifying teams move on to the sectional. The individuals qualifying were medalist Alex Schremp of Wausau East, who shot a 74, Matt Sandquist of Wausau West (79) and Bobby Montgomery of Rhinelander (80).
The top two teams and top three individual finishers not on those teams at the sectional will move on to the WIAA State Boys Golf Championships at University Ridge Golf Course in Verona on June 4-5.
