LA CROSSE – Marshfield sophomore Keiron Howlett earned a medal Friday at the WIAA State Track and Field Championships at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Howlett finished sixth in the Division 1 long jump with a leap of 21-9. He tied for fifth with Matt Williams of Waunakee but lost a jump off for the fifth-place match.

Senior Jeremy Robinson qualified for the finals in the 100 meters, finishing sixth overall in the preliminary heats Friday morning with a time of 11.06 seconds. He will run in the finals on Saturday.

Robinson, Howlett and junior Riley Gebelein were stymied in their other events and will not run in Saturday’s finals.

Robinson was 12th in the 200 meters qualifiers with a time of 22.36 seconds, missing out on the top 10 – and a spot in the finals – by 8/100 of a second. Robinson will take part in the triple jump on Saturday.

Gebelein took 17th in the 100 in 11.31 seconds, and Howlett failed to reach the finals in both the 110 and 300 hurdles.

Howlett finished 16th in the 110 (15.29) and 18th in the 300 (40.54).

No Marshfield girls qualified for the state meet.
