RIB LAKE – Tyler Pankratz and Garrett Nikolay each scored 13 points and helped Auburndale to a perfect performance from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter as the Apaches held off Rib Lake 45-37 in a Marawood Conference North-South third-place crossover game Monday at Rib Lake High School.
Nikolay was 4-for-4 from the line and Pankratz and Jacob Dorshorst each made both of their attempts in the fourth quarter as Auburndale was 11 of 12 overall from the line in the win. Pankratz added a team-high nine rebounds.
Auburndale held Rib Lake to 13 points in the second half to improve to 16-6 overall. Rib Lake falls to 12-9.
Nikolay was 3 of 6 from behind the 3-point line as Auburndale hit 4 of 10 in all.
Rib Lake’s 6-foot-6 center Daniel Petkau had 21 points as the Redmen took advantage of the absence of Auburndale center Jake Hansen, who didn’t play due to injury.
Auburndale hosts Stevens Point Pacelli in a WIAA Division 3 regional quarterfinal Tuesday.
