Marshfield High School girls soccer players Darian Molter, Walker Guzowski and Emily Goeppinger participated in a number of soccer tournaments during the summer playing for the Central FC Select Strikers out of the Portage County Youth Soccer Club in Stevens Point.

The Strikers went a perfect 4-0 in the Region II Tournament in Kansas in June, beating their opponents by a combined score of 20-6. The Strikers beat Kansas 6-0, Missouri 4-3, and South Dakota to move on to the championship game where they crushed Illinois 6-0.

In mid-July, the Strikers moved on to the National President’s Cup in Sacramento, Calif., where it finished in fourth place.

The Strikers lost to New York 5-1 in the opening day of the four-day tournament. They responded with a 2-2 tie of Southern California. Molter scored both goals for the Strikers, the first on an assist from Guzowski, and the second with just six minutes left to earn them a tie.

Central FC played to a 1-1 tie against Texas as Molter scored with about six minutes to go for the Strikers.

The Strikers then had a rematch with New York on Day 4 of the tournament and lost the third-place match 3-1. Rachel Metz of Wisconsin Rapids scored Central FC’s lone goal off a corner kick from Gabriel Mollot of Rhinelander.

Joining Molter, a co-captain, Guzowski and Goeppinger on the team are Jennifer Hoerter, Abby Bohanski, Jamie Clemens, Brittany Pinter and Makani Peters of Stevens Point, Gretchen Murphy of Wausau, Metz and Lauren Anderson of Wisconsin Rapids, Morgan Spees of Iola-Scandinavia, Millot and Morgan Voight of Rhinelander, and Lizzi Hanke and Sierra Patzke of Waupaca.
