SPENCER – Spencer outscored Abbotsford 16-0 in the first quarter and went on to knock off Abbotsford 55-40 in a nonconference boys basketball game Tuesday night at Spencer High School.
Ben Bonitz scored 14 points, and Bryan Brodziski scored 13 points and had 13 rebounds for the Rockets, who improve to 15-6 with the win.
Bonitz made 3 of 4 shots from the floor and was 8 off 11 from the free-throw line. Spencer took 34 free-throw attempts in all as Abbotsford committed 26 fouls. The Rockets made just 20 of the free throws, but did shoot 42.5 percent from the field (17 of 40) and outrebounded the Falcons (1-21) 38-14.
Justin Cowell added 10 points and six rebounds for Spencer.
Leo Braun led Abbotsford with 13 points.
The Rockets wrap up their regular season Thursday with a Cloverbelt East-West crossover game at home against Thorp.
