TOMAHAWK – Isaac Castellano caught a 14-yard touchdown pass from Wyatt Weiler in double overtime to lead the Auburndale football team to a thrilling 40-34 win over Tomahawk in the Marawood Conference and 2012 season opener for both teams on Friday night at Tomahawk High School.
After neither team scored in the first overtime, the Apaches were able to win it on a fourth down-and-5 play in the second OT period.
Auburndale piled up 459 yards of offense, including 308 through the air. Tomahawk had 558 yards, 485 coming on the ground.
Blake Anderson completed 17 of 32 for 294 yards and three touchdowns for Auburndale. Weiler, a receiver, threw the game-winner.
Castellano finished with five catches for 82 yards and three touchdowns, and Austin Hawkins added 122 yards on five catches and another score.

Auburndale hosts defending conference champion Edgar on Aug. 31 at 7 p.m.
