NEILLSVILLE – The Spencer volleyball team opened up its Cloverbelt Conference East Division schedule with a dominating 3-0 victory over Neillsville on Thursday night at Neillsville High School.
The Rockets won a close one in the opening game, 25-23, before rolling to 25-13 and 25-16 victories to close out the match.
Tara Matter led the way for the Rockets with 10 kills. Paige Johnson added six kills, 10 digs and two service aces, Alicia Endreas had three aces and 12 digs, and Brooke Kettleborough topped Spencer with 22 assists.
“It was great way to start the conference season,” Spencer coach Buff Heller said. “We had a lot of unforced errors early in Game 1, but once we cleaned those up things started to click. Paige Johnson had a great all-around night for us.”
Spencer will compete at the Auburndale Invitational on Saturday, then host Colby on Tuesday and Marshfield Columbus Catholic next Thursday in a pair of Cloverbelt East matchups.
