SPENCER – The Spencer/Columbus Catholic football team earned a victory in Friday’s game against Cadott even before the teams took the field.
Cadott announced earlier this week that it has decided to cancel the remainder of its 2012 season due to a lack of numbers and injuries in the program, according to a report in the Chippewa Herald newspaper.
The story reported that Cadott started the season with only 16 players and injuries left it with only 14, so the decision was made to scrap the rest of the season. The Hornets lost 49-0 to Stanley-Boyd and 49-8 to Fall Creek in their first two games.
Spencer/Columbus moves to 2-1 overall and in the Cloverbelt Conference with the forfeit win and turns its attention to conference-leading Eau Claire Regis, which it will host on Sept. 14 at Spencer High School.
