Spencer volleyball shuts down Colby

SPENCER – The Spencer volleyball team moved to 2-0 in the Cloverbelt Conference East Division with a 3-0 sweep of Colby on Tuesday night at Spencer High School.

The Rockets won 25-12, 25-19, 25-15, to improve to 2-0 in the conference. Colby falls to 0-2.

Tara Matter had 12 kills and two blocks, Tynae Phillips added nine kills and Marisa Johnson had eight kills and eight digs for Spencer.

Alicia Endreas topped Spencer with 19 digs and three aces, and Brooke Kettleborough had 27 assists in the victory.

“It was a solid match overall,” Spencer coach Buff Heller said. “We struggled a little with serve receive early in Game 2, but we figured it out and gutted out that game. Tara Matter hit the ball really well tonight, especially when our defense was moving.”

Spencer hosts Marshfield Columbus Catholic on Thursday at 7:15 p.m.
