CHIPPEWA FALLS – Marshfield junior Rebecca Voss won the girls race, Maddie Koehn took eighth and Ashley Holubets was 10th to lead the Tigers to the team championship on Tuesday at the Chippewa Falls Cross Country Invitational at Lake Wissota Golf Course.
Voss won the race in 20:29.65 to help the Tigers to a team total of 48 points as their top five runners placed in the top 15. Menomonie was second with 69 points, five better than Rice Lake.
Madie Koehn was eighth in 21:33.92 and Holubets was 10th in 21:42.58 for Marshfield. Sara Fuller finished 14th (21:53.06) and Melissa Brix was 15th (21:53.11) to round out the Tigers’ top runners.
Nolan Redetzke finished second in the boys race for the Tigers, running in 16:46.11 and finishing 1.12 seconds behind winner J.P. Nelson of Eau Claire Memorial.
Max Tibbett finished sixth in 17:26.34 for Marshfield, which took second as a team behind Memorial. The Tigers edged Eau Claire North by one point for second.
Adrian Kaiser was 14th (17:52.03), Ethan Voss finished 25th (18:50.12) and Mitchell Fisher took 28th (19:00.44) for the Tigers.
“Every point was critical today as the boys beat Eau Claire North by one,” Marshfield coach Dan Akin said. “Our top three boys were medalists today and ran well. It was a great team effort.
“The girls had a great team effort in their win today – our top five girls were all medalists today.”
