The Rockets beat Abbotsford 25-20, 25-11, lost to Wittenberg-Birnamwood 25-17, 22-25, 15-12, and responded with wins over Cadott 25-10, 25-19, and Tigerton 25-7, 25-20.
Tara Matter had 37 kills, Tynae Phillips had 23 kills and four blocks, Marisa Johnson had 20 kills, four aces and 27 digs, and Alicia Endreas had 49 digs and 13 aces to lead the Spencer attack.
Paige Johnson added seven blocks, four aces and 25 digs, Lindsey Vaughan also had 25 digs, and Julie Berres chipped in 21 assists for the Rockets.
“It was a long homecoming week, but they stayed strong throughout,” Spencer coach Buff Heller said. “Going 3-1 on the day, while fighting through some nagging injuries and homecoming week is a solid day.
“Our only loss was to the eventual champions Wittenberg-Birnamwood and that was a hard-fought three0gamer. Hopefully the girls get some rest, come back Monday with a solid practice and we will be ready for Owen Withee.”
Spencer (29-4 overall) is 7-0 in the Cloverbelt Conference East Division and will look to take control in the championship chase when it plays at Owen-Withee (6-0 Cloverbelt East) on Tuesday.
