Marshfield freshman football team knocks off Wisconsin Rapids

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Evan Kortuem scored twice, once on the ground and another on a reception, to lift the Marshfield freshman football team to a 26-12 win over Wisconsin Rapids on Thursday.

Kortuem ran 5 yards for a score and caught an 18-yard touchdown pass from Tyson Slade for another. Nick Hoheisel ran for 152 yards and scored on a 34-yard run, and Drew Hanson added an 11-yard touchdown run for the Tigers.

Zachary McManus kicked two extra points and Jimmy Draeger had a 70-yard interception return for Marshfield. Craig Lyon, McManus and Jon Hardinger were the Tigers’ leading tackler.

Marshfield plays at D.C. Everest Middle School on Oct. 11 at 4 p.m.
