The WIAA released its brackets for the upcoming 2012 WIAA State Girls Volleyball Tournament.
Teams begin play in regional quarterfinals in Divisions 2, 3 and 4 on Tuesday, Oct. 16, while Division 1 begins with regional semifinals on Thursday, Oct. 18.
Marshfield earned a No. 1 seed and a first-round bye in Sectional 1 of the Division 1 bracket. The Tigers will play the winner of the No. 9 Hudson at No. 8 Menomonie match on Saturday, Oct. 20, in a Division 1 regional final.
Spencer, champions of the Cloverbelt Conference East Division, is the No. 4 seed in the bottom half of the Division 3 Sectional 2 bracket and will host No. 13 Stratford in a regional quarterfinal on Oct. 16.
Auburndale, the Marawood Conference South Division champions, grabbed the No. 3 seed in the same Sectional 2 bracket and will play at home against No. 14 Loyal/Granton on Oct. 16.
Marshfield Columbus Catholic is the No. 12 seed in the Division 4 Sectional 2 bracket and will play at No. 5 Almond-Bancroft in a regional quarterfinal on Oct. 16. The winner takes on either No. 4 Tigerton or No. 13 Valley Christian in a regional semifinal on Oct. 18.
