ATHENS – The Auburndale volleyball team completed its regular-season schedule with a 3-0 sweep of Athens in a battle of Marawood Conference divisional champions on Thursday night at Athens High School.
Auburndale, winners of the South Division, rolled 25-23, 25-21, 25-23, to the win over North Division champion Athens.
Nicole Nikolay had 16 kills, Shannon Yahnke added 12 kills, and Kendra Kundinger had 18 assists and 16 digs for Auburndale.
Kelly Brokish added 17 digs and Hannah Castellano had 15 digs as the Auburndale defense stopped Athens time and again with 78 digs and six blocks.
Auburndale opens the WIAA playoffs with a Division 3 regional quarterfinal at home on Tuesday against Loyal/Granton.
