RIB MOUNTAIN – Auburndale’s Luke Haas and Stratford’s Nadia King posted top-10 finishes on Thursday at the Marawood Conference Cross Country Meet at Nine-Mile Forest.
Haas was seventh in the boys race, finishing in 16:58.4, and helped Auburndale to a third-place finish in the team standings. Teammate Jacob Hunsberger was 13th in 17:37.1.
Phil Sersch was 24th for the Stratford boys in 18:06.2. The Tigers were seventh in the team standings.
King took seventh in the girls race, running in 16:02.9 as the Stratford girls finished eighth among the nine teams at the meet.
Abby Bauer led the Auburndale girls, taking 13th in 16:27.1. The Apaches finished seventh.
Chequamegon edged Marathon for the boys team title by just three points. Marathon’s Andrew Studinski won the boys race in 16:13.7, 11 seconds ahead of Chequamegon’s Jordan Koski. The Screaming Eagles had four runners finish in the top 10.
Edgar won the girls title by eight points over Phillips.
Haley Joosten of Wisconsin Rapids Assumption won the girls title, running in 15:02.7, a comfortable 19 seconds ahead of Ellie Lochner of Phillips.
Auburndale and Stratford will be back at Nine-Mile Forest on Oct. 19 for the WIAA Division 3 sectional.
