All four local high school football teams learned their first-round matchups for the upcoming WIAA playoffs.
Marshfield grabbed a No. 1 seed in Group A of Division 2 and will host Tomah (3-5) in a Level 1 game Friday, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m. at Beell Stadium.
Marshfield (7-1) wrapped up its regular season with a 42-28 win over Stevens Point to tie the Panthers for the Valley Football Association South Division championship.
The winner of Marshfield-Tomah will play the winner of Wausau East-Holmen in the second round on Oct. 26 or 27.
Spencer/Columbus Catholic, Auburndale and Stratford were all placed in Group B in Division 5.
Spencer/Columbus (6-2) is the No. 6 seed and will play at No. 3 Peshtigo (7-1) in a first-round game Friday at 7 p.m.
Auburndale and Stratford will play each other for the second week in a row. No. 7 Auburndale (5-3) will play at No. 2 Stratford (6-2) at 7 p.m. Friday at Tiger Stadium. Stratford ripped the Apaches 50-14 in the teams’ regular-season finale on Oct. 12.
The winners of the Spencer/Columbus-Peshtigo and Auburndale-Stratford games will play each other in Level 2 on Oct. 26 or 27.
