FALL CREEK – Chippewa Falls/McDonell took the top two spots in the boys race and won the team title at the 2012 Cloverbelt Conference Cross Country Meet at Fall Creek High School on Saturday.
Nick Zander won in 17:03.4, 9 seconds ahead of teammate Grant Pulver as the Macks edged Altoona by nine points.
Columbus Catholic finished seventh and Spencer was 12th in the boys standings.
Donovan Fox led Spencer, taking 10th in 18:16.1, while Rudy Nieman was 34th in 19:32.5.
Jeremy Binder was Columbus Catholic’s top runner, taking 20th in 18:48.7.
Colby/Abbotsford swept the top three spots and had all five of its runners finish in the top nine to run away with the girls team championship.
Spencer and Columbus Catholic each had only four runners and didn’t count in the team standings.
Samantha Fuehrer was 18th for the Rockets’ girls, finishing in 18:06.7.
Alexandria Viegut ended up 31st to lead the Columbus girls, running in 18:59.8.
Columbus Catholic and Spencer will each run in the WIAA Division 3 sectional on Friday, Oct. 19, at Nine-Mile Forest in Rib Mountain.
