AUBURNDALE – The Auburndale volleyball team fought back from a two-game deficit to force a deciding fifth game but couldn’t complete the comeback and dropped a 3-2 decision to Stevens Point Pacelli in a WIAA Division 3 regional semifinal Thursday night at Auburndale High School.
The sixth-seeded Cardinals won 25-20, 27-25, 13-25, 19-25, 15-10, to advance to the Division 3 regional final on Saturday at No. 2 Marathon. Marathon topped Neillsville 3-0 on Thursday.
Auburndale, the Marawood Conference South Division champion and third seed in the bottom half of the Sectional No. 2 bracket, ends its season with the home loss.
