Marshfield senior Tiffany Stargardt and Auburndale senior Nicole Nikolay were named as an honorable mention choice for the 2012 Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association All-State Team, which was announced following the WIAA State Tournament that ended Saturday.
Stargardt, a three-time first-team all-Wisconsin Valley Conference choice, was chosen as an honorable mention pick for the second straight season and was the only player from the Wisconsin Valley Conference picked to the all-state team.
“Tiffany Stargardt is one of the best all-around volleyball players I have ever coached,” Marshfield coach Dawn Sadowska said. “She does it all – gets kills, makes great defensive plays, and serves up aces. She has been so dedicated to our program and her teammates over that past four years. I know that there will be a huge hole to fill next season as Tiffany has done so much both on and off the court to help get Marshfield volleyball back where we want to be – winning.”
Wausau Newman Catholic senior Abby Brown and Marathon sophomore Emily Kind were also chosen from the Marawood South, and Owen-Withee senior Aleyna Goerlitz from the Cloverbelt Conference were named to the all-state teams as honorable mention choices.
