CAMPBELLSPORT – Mitch Hertel won the 145-pound title and four other Marshfield wrestlers took second as the Tigers finish in third place at the Campbellsport Cougar Invitational on Saturday.
Hertel won the 145-pound title with a perfect 4-0 record, beating Austin Powell of Sauk Prairie 6-3 in the championship match.
The Tigers finished with 170.5 points, just one point behind second-place Sauk Prairie. Beaver Dam won the team title with 184.5 points.
Finishing second for Marshfield were Luke Mahoney at 132 pounds, Brandon Baltus at 160, Mitch Zillman at 195 and Brad Schroeder at 220.
Mahoney was pinned by Campbellsport’s Ryan Costello in the final.
Baltus dropped a 7-2 decision to Brandon Sprecher of Sauk Prairie in the 160-pound championship.
Zillman fell to Caleb Sisbach of Sauk Prairie 7-3.
Brad Schroeder was pinned by Dan Martinez of Beaver Dam in 16 seconds in the 220-pound championship.
Marshfield hosts Wausau West on Thursday in its Wisconsin Valley Conference dual meet opener.
