STRATFORD – Stratford outscored Athens 16-10 in both the third and fourth quarters to beat the Bluejays 52-42 in a nonconference girls basketball game Monday night at Stratford High School.
Brooke Schultze had 23 points and six rebounds, and Hannah Schmitt added 10 points and nine rebounds for the Tigers.
Stratford made 19 of 37 free throws, including a 10-for-14 performace by Schultze, and outrebounded Athens (1-1) 35-22.
Stratford trailed 22-20 at halftime before grabbing the lead in the third quarter and extending it in the fourth.
The Tigers improve to 2-1 and host Edgar on Thursday.
