Greenwood jumps on Spencer boys basketball early, downs Rockets

GREENWOOD – Greenwood jumped out to a big early lead and Spencer couldn’t recover as the Indians won 61-43 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division boys basketball game Tuesday night at Greenwood High School.

Greenwood led 23-8 after the first quarter and never trailed.

The Indians shot 59 percent from the field (26 of 44), while holding Spencer to 37.5 percent (18 of 48) and 0-for-8 from 3-point range. Spencer also committed 16 turnovers.

Jeremiah Cattanach led the Rockets (2-2 overall and Cloverbelt East) with 14 points. Cody Esser added 12 points and seven rebounds.

Greenwood’s Tyler Johnson was 9 of 12 shooting and 3 of 5 from 3-point range to score 21 points to lead all scorers. Greenwood moves to 5-1 and 4-0 in the conference.
