Marshfield wrestling team drops WVC opener to Wausau West

MARSHFIELD – Marshfield won two matches in a 63-9 loss to Wausau West in its Wisconsin Valley Conference wrestling opener Thursday night at Marshfield High School.

Mitch Hertel pinned Michael Phillips in the first match, winning the 145-pound match in 3:29, and Kane Seubert won 7-1 at 182 pounds, for Marshfield’s lone two victories.

Wausau West won two matches by forfeit and seven others by pin.

The Tigers compete at the Neenah Invitational on Saturday and host Merrill next Thursday in a WVC match.
