Spencer girls basketball grabs road win at Gilman

GILMAN – Eight different Spencer players scored as the Rockets defeated Gilman 37-29 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division girls basketball game Tuesday night at Gilman High School.

Spencer improves to 3-2 overall and 2-2 in the Cloverbelt East, while Gilman remains winless at 0-4 overall and in the conference.

Marisa Johnson and Macie Weber each scored seven points to lead the balanced scoring attack for Spencer.

Weber added 12 rebounds and Tara Matterhad five points and seven rebounds for the Rockets.

Spencer won despite making just nine of 25 free throws and shooting 13 of 42 from the field. The Rockets held Gilman to 25 percent shooting (9 of 36) and owned a 43-26 rebounding advantage.

Spencer plays at Augusta on Friday.
