STRATFORD – Wausau Newman Catholic outscored Stratford by seven points in the second half and squeaked out a 39-38 win in a Marawood Conference South Division boys basketball game Tuesday night at Stratford High School.
Tolga Ozlurk scored 15 points to lead the Cardinals (2-6, 2-3 Marawood South).
Travis Urlaub had 14 points for Stratford, which falls to 5-3, 2-3 Marawood South.
Stratford led 17-12 at halftime and 27-23 after three quarters before Newman rallied to pull out the win.
Stratford was just 12 of 37 from the field and 12 of 20 from the free-throw line in the loss.
Nolan Bargender added 10 points and eight rebounds for the Tigers.
The Tigers host Wisconsin Rapids Assumption on Friday. The game starts at 7:30 p.m. and will be broadcast live on WDLB-AM 1450 and online at wdlbwosq.com.
