NEILLSVILLE – Neillsville outscored Spencer by eight points in both the first and third quarters on its way to a 57-48 win in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division boys basketball game Tuesday night at Neillsville High School.
Neillsville led 22-14 after a hot-shooting first quarter before Spencer cut that lead to 31-29 by halftime. However, the Warriors again started a half strong, outscoring the Rockets 15-7 in the third quarter and held on the rest of the way.
Nick Thoma and Matt Dux each scored 14 points and Michael Dux added 13 for the Warriors (7-1 overall and Cloverbelt East).
Jeremiah Cattanach had 13 points on 5 of 7 shooting, and Bobby Pilz drilled three 3-pointers and had 11 points for Spencer, which falls to 3-5 overall and in the conference.
Spencer hosts Gilman on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
