MARSHFIELD – Caitlin Michaelis scored 21 points and grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds to lead the Marshfield girls basketball team to a 66-50 win over Wausau Newman Catholic in the championship game of the 4th Annual Marshfield Tiger Girls Basketball Tournament on Friday at Marshfield High School.
Michaelis added three steals and three blocked shots for the Tigers (4-3).
Natalie Zuelke and Makayla Zimmerman each had a season-high with 10 points, Ellie Kummer scored nine and Ellie Fehrenbach added eight points and eight rebounds for Marshfield.
Anna McCarty had 11 points for Newman Catholic (6-2).
Marshfield forced 18 turnovers and held a 35-20 rebounding advantage in the victory.
Marshfield returns to Wisconsin Valley Conference action Jan. 4 at Wausau East.
