Spencer girls basketball comes up just short at Greenwood

GREENWOOD – Tara Matter had 13 points and 11 rebounds but the Spencer girls basketball team came up just short, losing 34-31 to Greenwood in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Thursday night at Greenwood High School.

Greenwood outscored Spencer 13-8 in the third quarter to grab a 28-23 lead and the Rockets could not recover.

The Rockets were hurt by poor shooting, making just 13 of 42 field goals and 4 of 12 from the free throw line.

Greenwood improves to 2-6, 2-4 in the Cloverbelt East, while Spencer drops to 4-4 and 2-4 in the conference.

Taylor Suda led the Indians with 11 points and six rebounds.

Spencer plays at Owen-Withee on Tuesday.
