AUBURNDALE – Tyler Pankratz was 8 of 10 from the field and 6 of 8 from the free-throw line, finishing with 22 points to lead the Auburndale boys basketball team to a 59-40 rout of Stevens Point Pacelli on Tuesday in a WIAA Division 3 regional quarterfinal at Auburndale High School.
The Apaches improve to 17-6 after winning for the 11th time in 12 games. Auburndale will play Amherst (21-2), a 57-47 winner over Iola-Scandinavia, in a regional semifinal Thursday at Amherst.
Auburndale made 22 of 41 shots from the field and was 11 of 16 from the line in the victory.
Garrett Nikolay added 16 points, which included four 3-pointers, for the Apaches.
Auburndale’s lead steadily grew, from three after one quarter to six by halftime. After pulling ahead 39-32 after three, Auburndale outscored Pacelli (8-15) 20-8 in the fourth quarter.
Point guard C.J. Castellano had nine rebounds for the Apaches.
