SPENCER – The Spencer boys basketball team couldn’t overcome its poor shooting and dropped a 43-32 decision to Colby in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Friday night at Spencer High School.
The Rockets shot just 26 percent (11 of 42) and were outrebounded 24-11 in the loss.
Jake Hoernke led Colby with 14 points and Ryan Lynn added 10 as the Hornets improve to 2-9 overall and 2-8 in the Cloverbelt East and earn a season split with Spencer.
Joe Meyers had 12 points and Jeremiah Cattanach added nine for the Rockets (4-6 overall and Cloverbelt East).
Colby used a 15-7 run in the second quarter to take a 23-15 lead at halftime and outscored Spencer by three in the second half.
Spencer has a nonconference game at Phillips on Tuesday.
