AUBURNDALE – Auburndale outscored Stratford 16-9 in the fourth quarter to pull out a 50-43 win in a Marawood Conference South Division girls basketball game Friday night at Auburndale High School.
The game was tight throughout the first three quarters, with Auburndale leading 24-23 at halftime and Stratford tying it at 34-34 after the third.
The Apaches pulled away in the fourth quarter to improve to 5-4 and 4-1 in the Marawood South. Stratford falls to 6-4 and 1-4 in the conference.
Nicole Nikolay had 14 points and Emma Steines added 11 for Auburndale.
Carrie Stroetz scored 11 points, making 7 of 10 free throws, and Brooke Schultze had 10 points for Stratford.
Both teams return to action Monday. Stratford hosts Pittsville, while Auburndale plays at home against Northland Lutheran in Marawood South games.
