WEST SALEM – West Salem scored four times in the second period to bust open a tie game and defeat Marshfield 7-3 in a nonconference boys hockey game Friday night at the West Salem Ice Rink.
After Marshfield took a 2-1 lead on goals by Cole Irish and Bobby Leggon in the first period, the Panthers tied the score before the end of the period, then scored twice in the first 1:05 of the second to pull ahead for good.
Hunter Meyer scored three times and Taylor Trapp added two goals for West Salem (10-1-1).
Marshfield got another goal from Zach Leggon to make it 5-3 in the second, but didn’t score again.
Brad Krueger had 34 saves for Marshfield (4-10).
Marshfield hosts Medford on Tuesday.
