MARSHFIELD – Paige Johnson netted the game-winning goal with 1:54 left in the third period to lead the Marshfield girls hockey team to a 4-3 win over Waupaca in a Great Northern Conference game Friday night at the Marshfield Youth Ice and Recreation Arena.
Johnson also had another goal in the second period, and Morgan Larson and Patty Jo Bloczynski added goals for the Tigers, who remain undefeated in the Great Northern Conference at 4-0-1 (7-4-1 overall). Johnson assisted on the two goals she didn’t score.
Waupaca falls to 1-9 and 0-3 in the GNC.
Lexi Dupee had 20 saves in goal for the Tigers.
Marshfield trailed 2-0 and 3-2, coming back both times to tie it.
Johnson’s goal early in the third period held up the rest of the way.
Marshfield plays at Lakeland on Monday.
