STRATFORD – The Stratford boys basketball team’s came to an end Tuesday with a 52-34 loss to Edgar in a WIAA Division 3 regional quarterfinal at Stratford High School.
The Tigers (12-11) had beaten Edgar (13-10) twice during the Marawood Conference South Division season, but was unable to make it 3-for-3 in their first playoff game.
Edgar moves on to play top-seed and No. 1-ranked Marathon (23-0) on Thursday in a regional semifinal at Marathon High School.
Edgar used a 19-8 run in the third quarter to pull away.
Chris Newburry scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Tigers, who shot just 11 of 52 from the field, 3 of 20 from 3-point range and 9 of 22 from the free-throw line.
Justin Sinz had 15 points and 14 rebounds for the Wildcats.
