Phillips edges Spencer boys basketball by a point

PHILLIPS – The Spencer boys basketball team lost for the seventh time in nine games, dropping a 48-47 decision to Phillips in a nonconference game Tuesday at Phillips High School.

Phillips moves to 4-5 on the season, while Spencer falls to 4-7.

The Loggers outscored Spencer 32-23 in the second half – 23-18 in the fourth quarter – to pull off the win after the Rockets took a 24-16 lead into halftime.

Jeremiah Cattanach had 17 points and Miles Weber had 10 points and nine rebounds to lead Spencer.

The Rockets committed 13 turnovers and 22 fouls in the loss, shooting only 37.7 percent (20 of 53) from the field. Phillips held a 14-4 advantage on free throws.

Spencer is back in action Thursday with a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game at Marshfield Columbus Catholic. The game will be broadcast on WOSQ-FM 92.3 and online at wdlbwosq.com with pregame starting at 7:10 p.m.
