STRATFORD – The Stratford wrestling team swept three matches on Friday to win the Stratford Triple Dual Tournament.
Stratford defeated Elcho 57-21, Northwood/Solon Springs 75-3, and Spencer 52-27 to sweep its matches.
Spencer finished 2-1, defeating Northwood/Solon Springs 44-24 and Elcho 38-21. Elcho beat Northwood/Solon Springs 52-24 in the other match of the night.
In the win over Spencer, Stratford had pins from Sam Wenzel at 106 pounds, Phil Sersch at 120 and Alex Heiden at 132.
Rudy Nieman (135) and Brady Zais (145) earned pins for Spencer.
Wenzel, Sersch and Heiden also had pins in the win over Northwood, as did Taylor Krall at 152, Kyle Geibel at 160 and Hunter Kauffman at 220.
Wenzel and Anthony Glineicki had pins in the victory over Elcho for the Tigers. Results from that match were incomplete.
Lindsey Vaughan had two pins for Spencer.
Stratford hosts Amherst and Spencer will be at home against Almond-Bancroft in nonconference action Tuesday.
