Marshfield girls hockey shuts out Medford

MARSHFIELD – Paige Johnson scored 10:12 into the first period and the goal held up as the Marshfield girls hockey team shutout Medford 1-0 in a Great Northern Conference girls hockey game Friday night at the Marshfield Youth Ice and Recreation Arena.

Marshfield dominated the action, outshooting Medford 45-6, but couldn’t get anything else past Raiders’ goalie Tori Walsh, who had 44 saves.

Alexis Straughan saved all six shots she saw in goal for Marshfield.

Marshfield stays on pace near the top of the Great Northern standings, improving to 6-0-1 (9-4-1 overall). Northern Pines, also 6-0-1 in the GNC, was at home against Northern Edge on Friday, but no score was reported.

The Tigers play at Northland Pines on Monday.
