EAGLE RIVER – Northland Pines knocked off Marshfield 4-1 on Monday to retake first place in the Great Northern Conference girls hockey standings.
Marshfield led the conference by one-half game after Northland Pines suffered its first loss last Friday, but fall back to second place after the loss.
Northland Pines improves to 9-7-1 and 7-1-1 in the Great Northern Conference, while the Tigers drop to 9-5-1 and 6-1-1 in the conference. The two teams tied in a game played in Marshfield earlier in the season.
The Tigers play a nonconference game at Appleton United on Friday.
Morgan Larson scored Marshfield’s only goal with 8:03 left after Northland Pines scored the first three goals of the game.
Alexis Straughan had 27 saves in goal for Marshfield.
