MARSHFIELD – Junior guard Jared Fleischmann poured in a game-high 28 points and the Marshfield Columbus Catholic held off a late comeback to defeat Loyal 62-61 in a Cloverbelt Conference boys basketball game Tuesday night at Columbus Catholic High School.
Alex Larson added 15 points for the Dons, who improve to 11-4 overall and 8-4 in the Cloverbelt East.
Mason Froeba led Loyal (4-10, 4-8 Cloverbelt East) with 22 points.
Columbus trailed 16-10 after one quarter and 33-28 at halftime before exploding for an 18-5 third quarter to go up 46-38.
Loyal stormed back, outscoring the Dons 23-18 in the fourth quarter, but Columbus was able to hold on.
Columbus plays at winless Granton on Friday.
