Augusta uses quick start to cruise past Spencer boys basketball

AUGUSTA – Augusta outscored Spencer 22-13 in the first quarter and cruised to a 62-40 win over Spencer in Cloverbelt Conference East Division boys basketball action Tuesday at Augusta High School.

Augusta remains undefeated, improving to 15-0 overall and 12-0 in the Cloverbelt East. Spencer lost for the fourth straight time to drop to 4-9 and 4-8 in the conference.

Spencer shot just 38 percent (15 of 39) and turned it over 17 times in the loss.

Jeremiah Cattanach and Bobby Pilz each scored eight points to lead the Rockets.

Joe Whalen topped Augusta with 24 points.

Spencer returns to action Friday at home against Greenwood.
