Spencer boys basketball drops home game to Greenwood

SPENCER – Spencer shot 50 percent from the field, but committed 17 turnovers and were only 7 of 16 from the free throw line in a 67-61 loss to Greenwood in Cloverbelt Conference East Division boys basketball action Friday night at Spencer High School.

The Rockets made 23 of 46 shots from the field, one more than Greenwood, but poor free throw shooting hurt in the loss.

Greenwood made 21 of 28 at the free throw line, holding a 14-point advantage over the Rockets (4-10, 4-9 Cloverbelt East).

Jeremiah Cattanach hit four 3-pointers and scored a game-high 19 points for Spencer. JoeMeyers added 14 points, making three from long range, and Cody Esser scored 10 for the Rockets.

Tyler Johnson and Josh Cook each had 13 points for the Indians (12-4, 10-3 Cloverbelt East).

Spencer hosts Rib Lake on Tuesday in a nonconference game.
