MERRILL – The first time around in the Wisconsin Valley Conference season, the Marshfield boys basketball team dominated Merrill, winning by 21 points.
On Friday, Merrill returned the favor with a 43-41 victory over the Tigers at Merrill High School.
David Jesperson made two free throws with less than a second left to provide the winning margin for the Bluejays.
Luke Zuiker scored 15 points to lead Marshfield. Jesperson had 22 for Merrill.
Marshfield falls to 7-7 overall and 4-3 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference. Merrill improves to 5-8 and 2-5 in the conference.
Marshfield is off for a week, returning to action next Friday at home against Wausau West.
Marshfield led 33-26 entering the fourth quarter before the Bluejays used a 17-8 run to finish the game and win it on Jesperson’s late free throws.
