WESTON – Austin Helmer of D.C. Everest topped Mitch Hertel of Marshfield 5-3 in overtime in the final match to cement a 35-31 dual meet win for the Evergreens on Tuesday night at D.C. Everest High School.
The Tigers finish the Wisconsin Valley Conference dual meet season with a 1-5 record, while D.C. Everest wraps up at 3-2.
Marshfield took a 31-26 lead after a 7-3 win by Luke Mahoney at 126 pounds before Everest won the final two matches to grab the team victory.
Tou Vang pinned Tyler Manthe in 3:35 before Helmer’s overtime win over Hertel.
Josh Lang had a pin for Marshfield at 160 pounds, Brett Hasbrouck won a major decision at 182, and Brandon Baltus (152) and Kane Seubert (195) also won with decisions for the Tigers. Andres Aguirre and Tristan Wilson won by forfeit.
Marshfield is off until the Wisconsin Valley Conference Tournament at Wisconsin Rapids on Feb. 2.
