MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic boys basketball team is hitting its stride and knocking off everyone in its path.
The Dons won their eighth straight game Thursday night, taking down previously undefeated and sixth-ranked Augusta 58-53 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game at Columbus Catholic High School.
Columbus Catholic, which started the season at just 5-4, improve to 13-4 overall and move to 10-4 in the Cloverbelt East and into a third-place tie with Greenwood. Augusta, ranked sixth in this week’s WisSports.Net Division 4 state coaches poll, drops to 16-1 and 13-1 in the conference.
Columbus hosts Neillsville next Tuesday. Neillsville is now tied with Augusta for the conference lead. That game will be broadcast on WOSQ-FM 92.3 and wdlbwosq.com.
